Roi Et Province
is the province located in the middle part of northeast Thailand, and established over 200 years ago. It used to be a very large and glorious city named Saket Nakhon having 11 city gates and 11 satellite cities or subordinated communities under its ruling. Since there have been several developments in various aspects continually from the past thus changing it into a strange place where one can hardly trace its original features. Roi Et town is built around a large artificial lake,Bung Phlan Chai,where a large,walking Buddha statns on a small island in its centre. Phalanchai Lake
 
The lake, situated in the heart of Roi Et township, is regarded the symbol of the province. It features
an island amidst a large size lake occupying an approximate area of 200,000 square meters. Being a
relaxation place, it is decorated with a large flowers garden of various species of trees giving shady
area to the place. There are several kinds of fish in the lake and boats for people to row are available.
Thung Kularonghai   I
This is a large plot of land in the northeast occupying an approximate area of 2,000,000 rai. The area covers
the vicinities of five provinces : Surin, Roi Et, Maha Sarakham, Buriram, and Yasothon. The reason why this
large field is called Kula Ronghai is that the Kula tribal people who travelled for trading in this area in the
ancient times though they were healthy, tough, and very patient, however, could not stand for serious hardship
when they travelled across this field thus causing them to cry since they could not find any water source nor
shady area in the field at all.
Pha Nam Yoi Aboretum  
The park is located in the northeast of Amphoe Nong Phok township. One can take a bus along Roi Et-Amphoe
Phon Tong-Amphoe Nong Phok Road totalling a distance of 62 kilometers from Roi Et township. Pha Nam Yoi is
a large stone cliff having running water and small springs coming out from the cliff all year round. Its location is
on Phu Khao Khieo, Ban Khok Klang, Tambon Khok Sawang having an approximate forest area of 20,000 rai
surrounding the cliff.
